Priya is a founder turned VC and is a GP at Venture Highway. In 2012, she co-founded Vidyartha, an ed-tech platform focused on K12 students, where she drove product development, B2B sales and customer success, before successfully exiting to Byjus in 2018.
Prior to starting up, Priya spent 9 years working as an investment banker and an equity research analyst, when she helped high growth companies raise private equity, structure & execute complex transactions across private investments, secondary sales and M&A.
Priya was also a State Guest of the United States of the coveted IVLP program (International Visitors Leadership Program) along with other ed-tech founders and educators from 18 countries.
A Chartered Accountant and a Management Graduate from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Priya is also a trained Bharatnatyam danseuse having performed for over 13 years across India with top artistes and is the recipient of the CCRT Junior Scholarship in Dance and was a Graded artiste of Doordarshan.
why seed investing
As a 1st time entrepreneur building partly out of Chennai and Bangalore back in 2012, my access to other startups and VCs were limited! I moved to Bangalore, with my young daughter in tow. Through the 2 years of my lock-in, I interacted with a lot of founders and VCs; it was a VC who sowed the thought of me joining a seed fund and he introduced me to the VH founders when it was being set up.
As serendipitous as it was to join VH, my initial goal was to use the time to meet many early stage founders and understand how investors evaluate startups, wishing to go back to building another start-up. Today, 5 years hence, I am co-building VH as we consider ourselves a start-up masquerading as a VC!
I truly believe in radical transparency, listening with caring and being consistently mission aligned - all of which are the core tenets on which Venture Highway is being built.
