Rahul is an entrepreneur turned investor and is currently a Partner at Venture Highway.
He brings over a decade of experience in the India tech ecosystem, initially as a founder, and later, as a VC with prominent investment firms like Kalaari Capital, Iron Pillar and now VH. Rahul has investment experience across stages (early + growth) and across sectors (B2C, SaaS, Web3).
Some of his past investments include WinZO (India's top 3 RMG platform), WazirX (acquired by Binance), Shop101 (acquired by Inmobi/Glance) and Vogo (acquired by Chalo). In addition to his investee companies, Rahul has served on multiple additional boards including that of Upstox (discount brokerage unicorn), Cashkaro (India's largest cashback app), POPxo (acquired by MyGlamm) and Truebil (acquired by Spinny).
As an entrepreneur, Rahul built two e-commerce companies in India for 5 years. His first startup, Artisangilt.com, focused on consolidating the ethnic wear and fashion jewelry markets in India, and was acquired by IGP.com in 2014, after which Rahul moved to IGP as the CEO of the company. IGP is currently the largest online gifting company in India. At both Artisangilt & IGP, Rahul was directly responsible for product, strategy, and marketing.
In his early days, Rahul spent 8 years in capital markets as a sell-side Equity Research Analyst covering mid-to-large cap stocks in UK/Europe at Lehman Brothers, and then in India at HSBC Securities.
Rahul is an IIT Bombay grad and a CFA charter holder.
why seed investing
What I enjoyed the most as a sell-side analyst was the opportunity to build a holistic world view, spot secular trends and gain some foresight into the future. Becoming an entrepreneur gave me the opportunity to build into this future. But then, there are thinkers & there are doers, and over the years, I realized that I am more in the former camp.
But often, accelerated transformations require deep catalysts, and I realized that being one of those catalysts is also an effective way to build into the future that you deeply care about. VC allows that. To be able to borrow into founders vision, layer it with your own experience, and revel into the alchemy of 0-to-1 is deeply gratifying.
I have always had deep conviction in the future of Tech, and I believe that India will continue to benefit from several megatrends, both economic & technological, which will leapfrog innovation across several large sectors, and significantly influence the way we live our lives. I truly care about contributing to high impact tech driven enterprises which can hopefully enhance the lives of many in India. I find a deep sense of purpose in working with entrepreneurs who are ethical, innovative & inclusive, and who are likely to leave this world a better place.
